sTaRt HerE -- how to get the newspaper for free!
Some time ago, maybe,
oh, 18 months ago, I decided it was easier to have the Sunday
paper delivered, and also cheaper. So I signed up. They pestered
me for months to add on the daily paper, and when they got to
$.99 a week I said yes.
Actually, I was really into it by then. The Monday paper reviewed local business, and being a self-respecting entrepreneur I had to read all about it. The Thursday paper had the weekend happenings, in case I felt like taking in local color. The Saturday paper had the TV schedule--without which we have no peace in this house. I actually read some of the papers and usually the comics and of course the Fine Arts section and Travel most every day. Until I realized I was spending about 2 hours a day reading the paper. So I canceled the daily paper.
It took 2 months for the new rate to kick in. But the papers kept coming. Most days, they went from the front of the house to the back of the house (where they await recycling). After 4 months of this I called up the newspaper and pleaded with them to please stop delivering the paper. They said it would be taken care of.
Here I am, 6 months later, still getting my free daily paper. And that is how you do it. Some things just can't be turned off.
